Dior's DiorSnow Skincare Line Review

I have almost the whole DiorSnow line; I have been using the Diorsnow White Reveal Moisturizing Lotion, Diorsnow D-NA Control White Reveal Day Essence, Diorsnow D-NA Reverse White Reveal Night Concentrate and Diorsnow White Reveal Fresh Creme for over 3 months now.  I’m only missing the cleanser, and I didn’t get it because I didn’t think it would be helpful with acne prevention.
A lot of people are weary of ‘whitening’ products. This line does not whiten your skin, it is meant to brighten the complexion, and reduce skin’s dullness.

Diorsnow White Reveal Moisturizing Lotion in 1 Fresh Review

I love this lotion. The name is deceptive and it is actually toner. It feels light, refreshing and is very potent. I’ve tried this lotion on its own and it does give visible results in terms of brightening my skin’s complexion. Acne scar fading, not so much.

Diorsnow D-NA Control White Reveal Day Essence Review

This is supposed to be applied in the morning, after the lotion and before the Fresh Creme. I find this okay. It doesn’t break me out, but I didn’t find it as potent or effective as the other products in this line. Maybe it’s a team-player and helps the other products in the line perform better, but I didn’t really notice any difference in my skin from this product.

Diorsnow D-NA Reverse White Reveal Night Concentrate Review

This is supposed to be applied after the lotion and before the Fresh Creme at night.  This is my favourite product from the line. The most notable changes in terms of acne scar reduction and brightening came from this product. I have read reviews, how people say that it doesn’t really work for them. Every person’s skin is different, but this really works on me.

Diorsnow White Reveal Fresh Creme Review

This is used after the essences, as a moisturizer for day and night. I added this product last to my skincare. I didn’t notice significant changes from adding this product to my skincare. The texture is really nice and feels great on the skin. But I also found that my skin would get shiny quicker after using this product. For the price, I think I can find a better moisturizer for my skin.

Conclusion

I have mixed feelings about this line. It is marketed as a ‘whitening’ line. Yes, it does brighten the complexion and reduce the dullness. However, I bought this for the purpose of reducing my acne scars, and it has been a very slow battle. It does work at making my acne scars less noticeable but it is definitely not as quick as some reviews suggest. It probably took around a month till I noticed notable changes in my acne scars. When I was deciding on whether or not to purchase this line, I read a lot of reviews about how people were saying that their acne scars were all gone in a matter of two weeks and how people were hoarding this at Asian airports before it was available in North America. I guess that made me have higher expectations of this line and made me disappointed that this line didn’t live up to the hype.

Additionally, this line wasn’t designed for oily skin people. I have sensitive skin and it does not break me out, but it doesn’t help with acne reduction/prevention. It’s also not very moisturizing, so I don’t think it would be very helpful for people with dry skin either. I like how it was developed and made in Japan. I am Asian, and I find that my skin does respond better to Asian products.

This line definitely needs to be used in conjunction with other products. I found that when I used Mask Sheets with this line, it accelerated the results. When I used this line on its own, I found that my skin was getting mediocre results. At the end of the day, my skin is brighter and less dull than ever, but I don't know if this line is worth it. It's a very big investment, and maybe when my skin is less oily and I don't need skincare to help with acne reduction/prevention I will go back to this line.

Pacific Mall Haul + The Face Shop Power Perfection BB Cream Review

The Face Shop and Holika Holika are now at Pacific Mall! I’m so happy that these Korean brands have Toronto locations now. I no longer have to go on ebay and judge from a picture if I should purchase those items anymore. However, it couldn’t hurt if they were to open another location closer to Central Toronto, so I don’t have to make the trek to Pacific Mall. But at least Pacific Mall has bubble tea with real mango in it now (Mango Coconut Slush at Tea 168 is pretty awesome) but I digress.

The Face Shop Power Perfection BB Cream in #2 Natural Beige

I read that this bb cream is a best selling bb cream in Korea and Missha’s bb cream have been best sellers for years. I used up a whole bottle of M Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 21 and wanted to see if it was comparable to another best seller: Missha’s BB cream.

I actually like the Power Perfection BB Cream better. I’ve owned a few BB Creams (Missha, DiorSnow, Skin79, and Dr. Jarts). I’ve used up all of those with the exception of DiorSnow because I just got that in August. Power Perfection BB Cream is currently my favourite. It doesn’t have a grey cast, and it doesn’t need time to oxidize to my skin tone. It’s a pretty good match and the texture is really silky smooth. It feels light on the skin and has the longest staying power (as I tend to get oily quickly). I’ve read reviews where people say that the finish is matte. But I have oily skin, so I always get a dewy finish with this bb cream.

The Power Perfection BB Cream only comes in 2 colours (#1 & #2) and I’m #2. I’m NC20 and one of the problems with this bb cream is that it doesn’t accommodate a wider range of skin tones. But if you are close to a NC20 or lighter, I highly recommend the Power Perfection BB Cream.

The Face Shop Clean Face Clear Away Spot

I haven’t tested this at home yet, but I tried it in the store. You are supposed to use this at night and apply it on blemishes. It feels tingly and did reduce the size of my blemish. I will do a full review on the product if it later proves to be noteworthy.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Milk

I had pretty good results with The Face Shop's Brightening Rice Water Cleansing Emulsion before, so I wanted to get their updated product, which is the Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Milk. I haven’t used it yet. After I use the product for a while, I will provide an update.

The Face Shop Oil Control Film

Self-explanatory. I just saw this a product purchased a lot by other bloggers so I wanted to try it. I don’t usually use oil control blotting papers due to laziness. But since I’ve heard so much about this product I decided to pick it up.

The Face Shop Mask Sheets

I purchased the Real Nature Mask Aloe Vera, Real Nature Mask Cucumber, Real Nature Mask Mung Bean and the Pearl Essential Mask Sheet. The Face Shop has updated the formula and packaging of all of their mask sheets with the exception of the Essential Mask Sheet Series. Also, the Imperial Herbs line has now become the Oriental Herbs line. I couldn’t find the Oriental Herbs line at the Face Shop in Toronto. It’s unfortunate because the imperial herbs line was our favourite by far. I’ve tried the Real Nature Mask Aloe Vera. It is different from its predecessor the Fresh Fruit line. It feels more potent and stronger than before. I’ve also tried the Innisfree Mask Sheet (thanks to HAMinSK) and my beauty diary masks. I like the Face Shop Mask Sheets the best. The effects are longer lasting and more visible. They are also more expensive at $1.70 a sheet but well worth the investment.

You are supposed to apply masks 5-7 times a week. I think that is a little too much as I consider 3 times a week a victory. However, I don’t have beautiful, pore-less, blemish-free Korean skin, so maybe I should reconsider the 5-7 times a week.

If you are new to Korean Mask Sheets, there is a how-to video. Yes, you will look weird and I am embarrassed to walk around my house with it on. But it’s a price I’m willing to pay. Regular uses of Mask Sheets definitely help skin’s complexion and texture. I have oily skin and I read how fellow oily skin havers (a Zooey Deschanel term) are weary of the added moisture. But I find that I have less breakouts because my skin is well nourished and isn’t producing excess oil. However, everyone’s skin is different and you should do what works best for you.

Holika Holika Medi –Medi Magnesium Pack Pore Cleaning wash-off mask

Holika Holika was having a 20% off promotion off everything this weekend, and sadly everything else I wanted was sold out. This mask is a wash off mask and I picked it up because I heard that Holika Holika’s Medi-Medi masks are known for their moisture. It sounds crazy as an oily skin person, but oily skin cleansers strip away a lot of the moisture from my skin and it needs to be replenished. I also find my skin behaves better when I give it extra moisture. I’ll let you know if this becomes noteworthy.

Holika Holika Cotton Pads

I got these as a free gift. They are so nice! So much better than the ones I get from Shoppers. They don’t break apart as I use them, and my toner actually ends up mostly on my face instead of on the cotton pad. I can actually save on toner with this. I need to get more of these Holika Holika cotton pads. =)

Anyways, that was my Pacific Mall Haul. I hope that we continue to get more Korean brands. I’m hoping that we get Etude House, Innisfree, Skinfood and Nature Republic soon!
